Eldorado Westcar Series points battle heads to Shasta

 The
Eldorado Hotel Casino Westcar Tour of Champions Series will thunder
into Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, CA amidst a tight points
battle and with a star-studded line-up to do battle for the 100 lap
feature.
The touring
late model series will be competing in round five of the seven round
“777” tour.
Gary Glenn of
Orangevale,
CA
was issued a 25 point penalty and a fine after rough driving at the
June 23rd Westcar event at Ukiah Speedway. Glenn will not
be competing at Shasta.
Rookie Jarred
Beddow of Roseville, CA has assumed the lead in the points
standings, with a 12 point cushion over youngster Bobby Butler of
Sacramento, CA.
For Shasta,
Beddow will move from the Glenn stable to the Mike Lovell team,
driving the same car that Mike Doss piloted to victory at Ukiah. The
shakeup should set the
stage for a
dramatic final three rounds in the championship hunt.
The Tour of
Champions will present an all-star cast of former champions for the
North State fans. Local favorite Kyle Cattanach of
Redding,
CA,
fresh off of some strong runs in the NASCAR West series, will
compete in the Eldorado-backed 777 Chevy for JME Motorsports.
The start will
mark Cattanach’s return to the series after several top-fives last
year.
Another young
driver competing will be Ross Strimiska of Stockton, CA. Strimiska
leads the NASCAR points for Northern California drivers, competing
primarily at Madera Speedway. Strimiska is a third generation
driver.
2005 SRL
champion Jason Fensler will return aboard the bright blue Ford owned
by Rich Lawlor.
Baby Grand
driver Jake Smith of
Tracy,
CA
will make his series debut driving a team car for Brian Koski.
