Eldorado Westcar Late Models in action at Ukiah on Saturday

The Eldorado Hotel Casino Westcar Late Model Series will tackle the high-banked quarter-mile Ukiah Speedway on Saturday night in the Ukiah 100.

Points leader Gary Glenn of Orangevale, CA leads 21 entries into the historic track that was the site of the season opening Eldorado 100 that Glenn won.

Glenn has two wins and most recently a third place finish in his three starts in Westcar competition. He has won over $5400 for his efforts thus far.
 

Just six points behind Glenn is his rookie teammate Jarred Beddow of Roseville, CA. Beddow has finished in the top-three in all three races this year, setting an incredible pace for a rookie.

2005 Rookie of the Year Bobby Butler of Sacramento, CA, runs third in the standings and within striking range of the top-two cars. Butler has finishes of second, fifth, and sixth in the tough Westcar competition this year.

Among the other drivers to watch will be Monterrey, CA’s Dave Byrd. The 13-time NASCAR champion sits 15^th in the points after a string of mechanical failures has kept the veteran out of contention for the title race.

The Eldorado Hotel Casino Westcar Series will welcome Mike Doss of Upper Lake, CA to the series for his first ever start in the tour. Doss has two top-fives in North State competition and was that series champion in 2006. Drivers Wes Miller and Dan Knight are also expected to compete.

Action gets started Friday with open practice. Saturday competitors will practice in the afternoon, with qualifying and fan gates opening at 4:30 p.m. Racing is expected to begin at 6:30, with a full line-up of Ukiah classes to accent the $12,000 Westcar race.
